Care-For-Life

The Trixie Foundation offers a very unique service - Care-for-Life

While most caring ‘animal people’ never think twice about using or paying for professional animal related services such as veterinarian care, grooming, and kenneling - the majority of individuals are in a quandary when they, or others they know, are confronted with the reality that they no longer have the time necessary or the ability to commit to the long-term effort that’s needed for the top-notch quality care required for their beloved family pet’s overall health and welfare. Moreover, on the other hand, what choices does one have if a relative or a close personal friend’s life situation changes - especially, if it changes for the worse? What happens to their cherished pet then? It’s a very real problem and one that can have terrible, devastating consequences for the pet if one is not prepared for the “unexpected” in advance.]

Realistically, (and, statistically confirmed), the compassionate choices for “rehoming” or “placing” an unwanted animal into a new, secure environment or home are few. Although there are many, many individuals and organizations who try desperately to “rescue” and save these animals from destruction - the truth of the matter is, unfortunately, there are no guarantees that they will succeed in their effort. Thus, most people are then confronted with the reality that they must now take that dependant, pampered pet to the local animal shelter - where in most cases, the terrified, bewildered animal will be thrown in with other assorted-sized dogs before ultimately being euthanized - sometimes, sad to say, shortly after their arrival there. Even more horrendous is the fact that many states do not have laws against “pound seizure” - therefore, allowing unadopted “shelter animals” to be sold to laboratories for animal research. Can you imagine your precious, pampered “baby” being used for tortuous, barbaric “medical experimentation”? It’s unbelievable, we know. However, that doesn’t have to be the case; we have a solution and can offer professional, reputable help...

In today’s changing world, a very unique service is being offered at The Trixie Foundation’s no-kill animal sanctuary, 'Eden' (which incidentally, after twenty-three years of continual operation, is considered Appalachia’s oldest and largest no-kill animal sanctuary); this service is “Care-for-Life”. Although the overwhelming majority of the 270 or so animals The Trixie Foundation currently provides care for at any given time are “rescues” that are supported by donations rendered by many contributors - still, we know from personal experience (as we already have several ‘placed’ animals here now) that there are many individuals and families whom we can definitely also help should the time ever come when they need our help and proven expertise too - and, who are also able and willing to commit to the monthly financial support required for their pet’s long-term care throughout the ensuing years ahead. Truthfully, some people even plan for “worse-case” scenarios months or even years in advance...
